The Canadian $ 20 note is one of the most common banknotes of the Canadian dollar; it is the main banknotes that are shared from Canadian auto bank machines (ABM). The latest version, the Frontier Series polymer note, was released to the general public on November 7, 2012, replacing the banknotes of the Canadian Journey Series.

Note now

The $ 20 note is currently being changed on November 7, 2012 by a polymer-based note featuring Queen Elizabeth II on the face and Vimy Ridge memorial on the back. The window shows the Peace Tower. On January 18, 2013, a Canadian botanist complained that a foreign maple leaf was used as a symbol on the polymer notes instead of the sugar maple the country had on its national flag, along with notes of Fifty and One hundred dollars.

History

All Canadian banknotes underwent a major redesign in 1991, in part to incorporate some of the latest anti-counterfeiting methods. The record continued to be improved, with other designs revealed on August 25, 2004, and placed into circulation on September 29, 2004. Notes were printed on papers consisting of pure cotton at two Ottawa companies contracted for the purpose. They are the Canadian Bank Note Company and BA International Inc., part of Giesecke & amp; Group companies Devrient GmbH.

Each note in the 1991 series is sprinkled with special green ink dots, called planchettes, that glow when exposed to ultraviolet light. Inks can be scraped, so outdated records tend to have fewer, if any, shiny dots. This is replaced by ultraviolet threads that are detected more permanently on new notes, as well as ink traces of the emblem.

Canadian Journey Series

Introduced in 2004 and circulated to successor in 2012, the 20-dollar Canadian Journey Series record is mostly green. The face featured portraits of Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, the Royal Arms of Canada, and a picture of the Central Block of the Parliament building. The visible facial security features include a holographic line along the left side, illustrating the number 20 interspersed with maple leaves; watermark portrait of Queen; and the dashed number of 20, which resolved itself at the backlight. The back portrays the artwork by Bill Reid, especially his statues of Raven and the First Men and Spirit of Haida Gwaii ; it also has a quote from Gabrielle Roy. The back also has a visible security feature: an interleaved metal strip, read 20 CAN repeatedly throughout its length. The yellow dots representing the EURion constellation can be found on both sides (and on all series notes of 2001). As well as textured printing, the 2004 design incorporates special touch features similar to Braille points for blind people denominating. The $ 20 notes in 2004 were awarded Bank Note of the Year by the International Bank Note Society in 2005.

As with all modern Canadian banknotes, all texts are written in English and French.
