The Beatles initially intended to use the title of A Doll's House for the album they recorded during 1968. The launch of the debut titled The same family then encouraged them to adopt the title of Beatles the Beatles which is now more commonly referred to as The White Album because of its plain white sleeves.
"Old Songs, New Songs" menampilkan cameo dari grup Tubby Hayes.
The album is the first of its kind by an English rock group on a US Reprise label prepared for Frank Sinatra (but already part of Warner Bros.). It was licensed to the label by Dukeslodge Enterprises, a company run by the band's manager, John Gilbert, who also acted as an 'executive producer' of the album. The album was released on vinyl in two different guises: mono (RLP6312) and stereo (RSLP6312) and Stereo 8 Track Cartridge. Mono vinyl copy displays a different mix for stereo presses and many mono copies are returned to stores as they often skip tracks. The mono edition was quickly withdrawn, making it a much sought-after format.
The album was originally published in the US using UK imports and sold in the US as a domestic album with an extra carton sheet to reinforce the sleeves (since they basically have the same catlog numbers in both countries). Around the time the second album was released in the US, the US emphasis from the album began to appear. (The album also originally had a 12 "black and white photo of the group inserted as an insert.)
In Q & amp; Mojo Classic Special Edition Pink Floyd & amp; The Story of Prog Rock , the album was ranked 30th in the "40 Album Rock Cosmic" list.
