Tasks and Type of Photographer
As in other arts, amateur and professional definitions are not entirely categorical.
An amateur photographer takes photos for pleasure in remembering events, places or friends without the intention of selling images to other people.
A professional photographer tends to take photos for the cost of purchasing sessions and pictures, on salary or through the display, resale or use of the photographs.
A professional photographer may be an employee, such as a newspaper, or may contract to include specially planned events such as weddings or graduations, or to illustrate advertisements. Others, such as art photographers, are freelancers, first creating drawings and then licensing or making printed copies for sale or display. Some workers, such as kindergarten photographers, estate agents, journalists and scientists, make photographs as part of other work. Photographers that produce moving images rather than quiet are often called cinematographers, videographers or camera operators, depending on their commercial context.
The term professional may also imply preparation, for example, by academic studies or apprenticeship by photographers in the pursuit of photographic skills. The characteristic of a professional is often that they invest in continuing education through association. Many associations offer the opportunity to test and show sharpness to obtain credentials such as the Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) or Master Photographer. Although there is no mandatory registration requirement for professional photographer status, operating a business requires business licensing in most cities and districts. Similarly, having commercial insurance is required by most places if photographing a wedding or a public event. Photographers who operate a legitimate business can provide these items.
Photographers can be categorized based on the subject they portray.
Some photographers explore the subject of typical paintings such as landscapes, still images, and portraits. Other photographers specialize in unique subjects for photography, including street photography, documentary photography, fashion photography, wedding photography, war photography, photojournalism, aviation photography, and commercial photography. It should be noted that the type of work assigned will have a price associated with the use of the image.

Sell photos
The exclusive right of photographers to copy and use their products is protected by copyright. Countless industries buy photographs for use in publications and products. Photographs visible on magazine covers, in television commercials, on greeting cards or calendars, on websites, or on products and packages, have generally been purchased for this use, either directly from photographers or through agents representing photographers. A photographer uses a contract to sell the "license" or use of his photograph with proper control over how often the photo will be used, in which region it will be used (eg US or UK or otherwise), and exactly for which product. These are commonly referred to as usage fees and are used to differentiate from production costs (payments for actual photographs or photographs). Additional contracts and royalties will apply to any additional photo usage.
The contract may be for only one year, or any other duration. Photographers usually charge a royalty as well as a one-time fee, depending on the terms of the contract. The contract may be for non-exclusive non-exclusive use of photos (meaning photographers may sell the same photo for more than one use during the same year) or for exclusive exclusive photos (ie only companies that can use photos for an extended period of time). The contract may also specify that the photographer has the right to audit the company for the determination of royalty payments. Royalties vary depending on the industry that buys photos and their use, for example, the royalties for photos used on posters or in television advertisements may be higher than for use on restricted brochures. Royalties are also often based on the size at which photos will be used in magazines or books, and cover photos usually charge higher than photos used elsewhere in books or magazines.
Photographs taken by a photographer while working on assignments often work to rent a company or publication unless otherwise specified by the contract. Professional portraits and wedding photographers often establish under a contract that they retain their photo copyright, so that only those who can sell photographs of prints further to consumers, rather than customers reproducing photos in other ways. If the customer wants to be able to reproduce the photo itself, they can discuss an alternative contract with the previous photographer before the photo is taken, where a larger up front fee may be paid in exchange for reprint rights granted to the customer.
There are large companies that have maintained catalogs of photography and stock images for decades, such as Getty Images and others. Since the turn of the 21st century many online stock photography catalogs have emerged that have invited photographers to sell their photos online easily and quickly, but often with very little money, no royalties, and no control over the use of photos, market marketing will be used, product to use, duration of time, etc.
Commercial photographers can also promote their work to advertisers and buyers of editorial art through printed and online marketing vehicles.
Share photos
Many people upload their photos to social networking websites and other websites, to share them with specific groups or with the general public. Those interested in legal correctness can explicitly release them to the public domain or under a free content license. Some sites, including Wikimedia Commons, are very careful about licenses and only receive images with clear information about permitted usage.
