Ringkasan plot
The story is about a girl named Samantha Madison who lives in Washington, D.C. He is a sophomore at John Adams Preparatory School. The outcast, he has only one friend, Catherine. Sam is a big fan of Gwen Stefani and often regrets that she is no more like Gwen. Unlike Meg Moto Mia Thermopolis at The Princess Diaries, Sam defies popular culture and coloring her entire wardrobe as she "mourns for her generation." Sam is a natural redhead and a middle child. He often feels inferior because his older sister, Lucy, is a cheerleader, and therefore one of the most popular girls in school, and her younger sister, Rebecca, is so smart that she takes college level classes at school for gifted kids. Sam is very different from his conservative parents - his father is an international economist at the World Bank and his mother is an environmental lawyer. Sam also believes he is in love with Lucy's boyfriend, Jack. Jack is a complete social opponent of Lucy's sister, having an artistic yet rebellious attitude towards life that claims that teenagers should be against the system.
Sam is an aspiring artist and takes portraits of celebrities during his German class that he has in C-in. Her sister, Lucy, sees these portraits and shows them to the family at dinner. As punishment, his parents decided to enroll him in a bi-weekly art class at Susan Boone. Sam goes to his first class where he is reprimanded by Boone for drawing what he knows and not what he sees. Offended, Sam decides to pass the next class choosing to fill his time on Capitol Cookie and Static (record store). As she waited for her housekeeper to take her from the art class, she saw a man she'd seen earlier in Static listening to Billy Joel's Uptown Girl. The man turned out to be a murderer and when he took a gun to shoot the President who came out of the nearby Cookie Capitol, Sam jumped on him, sending his shot into space. He broke his arm in the process as the man fell on top of him as he leaped toward her.
To save the President's life, Sam becomes a celebrity and is a national hero. He also appointed the Youth Ambassador to the United Nations. He was no longer isolated and became popular at the school where he received many social invitations and was even sucked by Kris Parks, his arch-rivals. When he meets the President, he also meets his son who turns out to be David from his art class at Susan Boone. As he gets closer to David, he deals with his conflicting feelings for Jack - who he thinks is his soul mate - and the President's son.
