American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars (released in the PAL region as American Girl: Shooting for Stars ) is American family drama 2012 film starring actress Jade Pettyjohn, Ysa Penarejo, Cathy Rigby, Nia Vardalos, and Ian Ziering. The film is based on McKenna's books in the American Girl series written by Mary Casanova. Plot
In the Shooting Star gym. McKenna Brooks is practicing turning his back to a block. Coach Isabelle Manning told McKenna that her actions were too advanced. McKenna tried to protest, but Coach Isabelle told McKenna that she was not ready to move it. The coach tells him to stretch. McKenna's dream is to go to the Olympics, but her coach tells her that she needs to focus on smaller things for now. When McKenna's feelings were depressed, her best friend Toulane Thomas came and told McKenna she was great. He then understands how they will both get into the 2016 Summer Olympics. Toulane explains that he will be on the podium with his gold, and McKenna beside him with his silver. McKenna told him that he would get gold instead. The girls returned to gymnastics until McKenna's grandmother came to the gym with younger McKenna twins, Maisey and Mara. The four of them left the gym.
At home, McKenna, Maisey, Mara, Mr. and Mrs. Brooks was at the desk and talking about Mrs. Brooks's business, and how the guitarist did not show up on her first day. Mr. Brooks tried to convince her. In an effort to continue gymnastics McKenna agrees to get a tutor. McKenna reluctantly met Josie Myers in the school library. When McKenna saw Sierra, she tried to hide. Josie does not understand this. After Sierra left, Josie tried to teach McKenna. McKenna gets mad when she finds out that Josie wants her to read "baby books". He came out of the library and asked Wu to find a new teacher. He tried three different tutors that would not work for him. McKenna was soon forced to return to Josie.
At the time of the presentation, Shooting Stars gymnastic team performed for the parents. When McKenna went up, she did everything perfectly. He came to the end of his training and decided not to obey the trainer by doing handspring back. McKenna fell and broke her ankle. When McKenna came home, he was very angry, because his parents said that the accident would allow him to focus on school now, not gymnastics. McKenna yelled at them saying they must be glad she broke her ankle because she did not do anything, but studied, and wandered around her room. McKenna continued to meet Josie, and was soon discovered by Toulane. Toulane was very upset because McKenna lied to her. McKenna was still on a camping trip with Josie. After that, Josie invited McKenna to go to the riding spot for the children with disabilities, because Josie would ride the horse. McKenna first agreed, but then he remembered he was released on the same day. Josie was very upset because McKenna could not leave. Soon, McKenna realized that she had to go and do it. There, he was surprised to see Toulane. Toulane said that McKenna showed Josie their secret handshake on their camping trip. Toulane and McKenna talk and make up with McKenna's apology.
