The Dollars Trilogy (Italian: Trilogia del dollaro ), also known as Anonymous Trilogy Man , is a series of three Western Spaghetti movies directed by Sergio Leone. Films titled A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For Multiple Dollars (1965) and The Good, the Bad and the Bad (1966). They are distributed by United Artists.
The series has been known for building the Western Spaghetti genre, and inspired the creation of more Western Spaghetti movies. All three films are consistently listed among the best Western films in history.
Though not Leone's intentions, the three films were considered trilogy after the exploitation called "Anonymous Man" (played by Clint Eastwood, wearing the same outfit and acting with the same behavior). The concept of "Unnamed Man" was created by USA Artist distributor, looking for a strong angle to sell the film as a trilogy. The Eastwood characters do have names (despite nicknames) and are different in every movie: "Joe", "Manco" and "Blondie", respectively.

Development
A Fistful of Dollars is an unofficial remake of the 1961 Akira Kurosawa movie Yojimbo starring Toshiro Mifune, which resulted in a successful lawsuit by Toho.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is considered a prequel, because it depicts Eastwood characters gradually obtaining the clothes he wore throughout the first two films and therefore occurred during the American Civil War (1861-1865). ), while two other films feature relatively more modern firearms and other props. For example, the character of Lee Van Cleef in For Few More Dollars appears to be a Confederate veteran who has descended on the world, and the grave scene in the A Fistful of Dollars features a gravestone date dated 1873.
Cast
The only actors who appeared in the three films besides Eastwood were Mario Brega, Aldo Sambrell, Benito Stefanelli and Lorenzo Robledo. Four other actors each appear twice in the trilogy, playing different characters: Lee Van Cleef, Gian Maria Volont̮'̬, Luigi Pistilli, and Joseph Egger.
"I think [Leone's movie] is changing the style, approaching to the West [in Hollywood].... They make the violence and shooting aspect a little bigger than life, and they have great music and new scores. stories that were never used in other Wests. They only had a slightly different look and style at the time: I do not think any of them are classic tales - like [John Wayne's 1956] The Searchers something like that - they are more fragmented, episodic, follow the central character through various small episodes. "
Music
Composer Ennio Morricone gave the original music score for the three films, although in A Fistful of Dollars he was credited as "Dan Savio."
