Playland is an amusement park in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Located in Hastings Park and is Canada's oldest amusement park.

The regular season runs from May to the end of September each year. The park reopens for Fright Nights from mid-October to Halloween weekends. Playland usually adds new trips every year and the park is always near capacity during the Exhibition. For the 2015 season, the park added the most extreme pendulum pendulum in Canada, The Beast.

At the end of China, Playland and its charter partner Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) collectively organize an annual exhibition for Metro Vancouver local residents. Talent shows, Animal Races, Demolition Derbies, Monster Trucks and plenty of food/snacks are just some of the many exciting events found at the show. During this time, the rides imported from the West Coast Amusements almost doubled the number of rides.

Canadian drama film 1999 Rollercoaster , shot in the park. The horror movie opening scene Final Destination 3 was also shot in the park, utilizing the Corkscrew roller coaster, seen in the movie as "Devil's Flight". Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days was filmed in Playland (Vancouver) for the boardwalk scene, where Corkscrew roller coaster and Revelation ('Cranium Shaker' in film) Rotating arm ride shown along with many smaller rides. The original Nickelodeon Movie Splitting Adam was also filmed in the Playland water park. The 1996 film Fear was shot there in the summer of 1995.

Family Attractions

This park is located in a part of the park called Kids Playce at Playland . All rides there have a height limit (90 cm/36 ") with the exception of Balloon Explorers, which has a minimum height of 42 inches.The maximum height is 150 cm (60 inches) unless otherwise stated.

  • Balloon Explorers - Eight hot air balloons that drove 42 feet in the air and moved in a circular motion.
  • Dizzy Decrease - Rotating towers of children spin.
  • Flutterbye - Zamperla Magic Bikes.
  • Cap'n KC - Ships in small shallow shallow drains.
  • Helicopter - The motor moves in a circular motion.
  • Cool Perayer - Dune buggy ride.
  • Honeybee Express - Take the mini train. Minimum height: 36 inches
  • Merry-Go-Round - Ride the classic carousel. There is no limit of 150 cm (60 inches).
  • Scrambler - Three rotating vehicles with three cars in each arm give a feeling of collision.
  • Super Slides - Three-way slide. There is no limit of 150 cm (60 inches).
  • Teacups - Go Classic Teacup.

  • Bonanza Photo Gallery - Western western themed filming gallery.
  • Wall Climbing - Climbing wall as high as 10 m (three feet) with three climbing stations, two for beginners and one for experts. This tourist attraction is free during the regular operating season, but there is an additional fee to get in there during the annual exhibition. Climbing walls range from 5.6 to 5.10a in difficulty according to the Yosemite Decimal System.
  • Greenhouse - A labyrinth built of transparent walls.
  • Ghost House - Walk through the haunted house. There is an additional charge for this attraction.
  • Pacific Adventure Golf - An 18 hole mini golf course.

  • Nintendo Power Zone - A place to play the latest video games for Nintendo and PlayStation.
  • The Maze - A labyrinth built from a closed chain fence. Located roughly where Wahyu is now.

Annual event

Fright Nights

From early October to Halloween weekend, Playland is home to the Fright Nights Halloween event. During this time, haunted houses were installed inside the Playland and the monsters roamed the park. Most regular amusement parks operate.

Since the beginning of the event in 2003, the haunted houses have been owned and managed by ScreamWorks Inc., a Calgary-based company. In 2009, PNE and Playland began managing the Fright Nights event, including the haunted houses.
